The FAMILY Institute is an applied research
center for ongoing evaluation of all of FAMILY's activities, and for analysis of human
systems on all levels—individual, family, community, state, nation, and globe. It aims to develop a holistic understanding of families and their support needs, and, from the perspective of families, to develop an enlightened understanding of society and its systems. The FAMILY Institute is a learning organization with a threefold mission: formative evaluation, analysis and commentary, and communication.
Below to the left is a photo of Rodney Simmons (BOLD Teens), Cynthia Loesch (FAMILY, Inc.), Governor Deval Patrick, Marcel Tam (Boston University) and Geralda Sylvain at the Regional White House Forum on Health Care Reform held in Vermont on March 17th 2009. Loesch was asked to speak along side Governor Douglas, Governor Patrick and Nancy-Anne DeParle, Counselor to the President and Director of the White House Office of Health Reform. Loesch organized a Community Health discussion in December 2008 with the Codman Square Health Council and was asked to speak at the regional forum by the United Sates Department of Health and Human Services.
Loesch’s remarks reflected the need for community residents to be an integral part of health reform discussions. Her comments illustrated the communities that live in unhealthy conditions and the need for prevention to include living environments.
